Vogel party
We went over to Randy and Trish's house yesterday for a birthday party for Randy.
Mitch gave Bobby some tips on scuba diving. He is a certified diver.

This is what you do when you turn 55 and want to feel young again.
Happy Birthday, Randy!

School's Out for Summer!
Since this was the last week of school, we had all kinds of activities throughout the week. Monday was field day. (Sorry, no pictures. I was preparing for lunch.) That same day in the afternoon, a selected group of students were chosen to play against the teachers in a basketball game and Tiffany was chosen to play.
Toby made an appearance. He is one of the items that the PTO purchased this year. The students go crazy when they see him!
Wednesday was the awards ceremony. Tiffany received a certificate from the PE teacher for participating in the basketball game. Earlier in the year she received the "Best PE student at Tartesso". She also made honor roll again. This is the first year she has made the honor roll for every quarter. Awesome, Tiff!!!
She has always struggled with reading and this year she began reading more and seems to enjoy it. I'm sure having something to do with the honor roll.

Walking to school this morning.
I also was presented an award at the assembly yesterday. Our principal called me out of the kitchen to give me this nice plaque.

She did it!
Last night we went to Tempe for Ashley's graduation at ASU. It was held at the Wells Fargo Arena. Before finding our seats, I noticed a long line for something so I went around the corner to check it out. Would you believe they had a concession stand open? I guess because it was in an arena, but I just thought it was strange for people to be coming up the stairs with popcorn, nachos and chili dogs during a ceremony.
As the graduates started coming in, this is what we were looking for. Ashley's cap with jewels reading EED, which stands for Elementary Education.
During the ceremony, they were recognizing alumni, parents and spouses of the graduates. When they asked for the spouses to stand, Kyle shouted "close enough" and stood up proudly.

D-Backs
Last night, we went with some friends from church to the D-Backs game, fireworks and Jars of Clay concert. Tiffany brought a friend from school.
The Diamondbacks lost but I go along for the fellowship, not the game, so I was fine with it.

Band concert
Tiffany has been in beginning band this year and they got to play this week. She was the only flautist (not sure of the spelling) in the band.
You can't see her because they are in a pit, but here is what they (mostly the percussion) sounded like.

Bill's birthday
To celebrate Bill's 50th birthday, we all drove to Gilbert to eat at....
The place was packed with people inside and out. Check out these glasses of Bill's. They have lights on the sides. Is this what happens when you turn 50? The kids sitting next to us shouted " Hey, are you from outer space"?
Only Bill can pull off this look!
Interesting place! Bill had told us that we needed to make sure and visit the bathroom. Sure enough, after we ate Tiffany needed to go, so off we went. These are single use unisex bathrooms with the glass that you can see out but people can't see in for the walls. Very uncomfortable! This is the decor actually inside the walls of the bathroom.
And this, over the urinal for your viewing pleasure while going to the restroom, which explains why people spend so much time in there.
After Tiffany finished going, she stood up and this old cartoon that was playing said "Are you ready for action?" and then the toilet flushed automatically. Maybe a coincidence, but that was just weird. At the end of the night, these 4...
all went into the restroom and hung out in there taking all these pictures and causing a long line outside (remember, these are single use restrooms).
Anyway, we enjoyed the food and was glad to help Bill celebrate his birthday.

Science Fair
Science fairs are not like they used to be. Long gone is the erupting volcano and the solar system! An experiment, procedure, hypothesis, results, graph, and conclusion are all needed.
