As you know, all of my family go on a summer vacation together, usually to the beach. Well, I e-mailed everyone and told them that because of the uncertainty of Bobby's job and having to go to South Carolina next summer for the wedding, we would just be able to go camping someplace close and cheap this summer. In Chris' spare time, she came up with the top 10 reasons for us all to go on a.....
"Camping Vacation".
9) out of state wedding expenses
8) school loans
7) job lay off
6) decline in new home construction
5) bad real estate market
4) lost home
3) practicing homelessness
2) still paying for 2008 vacation
1) FLAT BROKE
I laughed, then realized someone in my family has experienced everyone of these. So, no beach vacation for me this summer.

You better come and visit us at the beach this summer - the condo is already paid for - we can squeeze you in - you HAVE to have your beach fix!!!!
You better watch out what you offer, I might take you up on that!!
What about ME ?????
I guess I have an awkward way of dealing with things. I find that I can handle things better if I laugh instead of cry. This economy has impacted each of us in one or more of those ways, so I hope the list, at least momentarily, took everyone's mind off of things and caused a little laughter. Ahhh, tent camping - JUST CAN'T WAIT!
I'm told there ARE benefits to a camping vacation. Like you don't have to worry about your hair and make-up. Shoot, I might wear the same clothes every day. For the first time, trying to fit all of our luggage into the car may not be a problem. The real benefit will be spending time enjoying God's beautiful creation with family. Oh, and don't forget the cards, and board games. Yippee!
You guys should hike down Havasupai - it is absolutely awesome!!! Water as blue/green as Puerto Rico!! No cell phones, tv's, ipods................. As far as the beach - you better squeeze a few days in - we have to go to Cessy's for the bean/cheese quesadilla - Bobby too!!
