How exciting!! Bobby's childhood friend, Blair and his wife Kate, welcomed their first child into their family on August the 16th in Maryland. Baby Sophia was born a few weeks early to prove to her parents that she is in charge now. She weighed in at 5lbs 3ozs and is 20 1/2 inches long. Check out all that hair! Congratulations!!

Olympic Withdrawal
Anyone else wondering what to watch these days? I miss the Olympics!! I loved watching our athletes doing what they do best.
Way to go, USA!!!

Another August birthday!
Today is my Dad's birthday!! He is celebrating away from home because my parents are still gone on their long trip. (They probably consider their motor home, home, now that they have been gone so long.) They have been busy volunteering at a church camp where they run the snack bar.
Hope you have a great day!! Happy Birthday!!
Why is it that all my pictures of you have food in them?

Bobby is on his own!!
I kind of took over this blog site (no wise remarks) so the other day I told Bobby he should just have his own. So today he began working on it. You can check out his blog by clicking on his name on the right.
Got to get away!
Yes, another Saturday of game building for the church festival. We had told our Sunday School class last Sunday that we would not be going out of town with them next weekend since Bobby had to work on the festival games. So, our friends, James and Teresa volunteered to come over and help Bobby with some of the games so that we could go on the trip. Bobby had everything ready to go and they showed up at 7:00 this morning to begin.
James is building the tic tac toe boxes while Teresa works on the mystery plinko game. Teresa made me look bad with her gloves on and all that drilling. You go girl!!
With all this help, Bobby started thinking about fishing next weekend. Thanks to James and Teresa, we will be able to get away and enjoy some cooler weather next weekend.

Is this really church?
Bobby and I are helping out in Kidztown for the next couple of weeks. It takes place during the worship service and is for children in the 1st-5th grades. Kidztown consists of crafts, fun games, lessons, LOUD music and a lot of singing and dancing. Well, "baptist" dancing. Look who is in the booth running the sound!
Today they celebrated summer birthdays which explains why Tiffany has this silly hat on her head!!

Stop and look!!
The one and only thing I enjoyed about the long drive to school last year was listening to 25 minutes of christian music and testimonies while watching the sunrise come up over the mountains. I thought I was going to miss all that with just a 2 minute drive but look what I saw today!! I turned the corner and there it was!! I am sure it has been there on the other mornings but my mind was focused on all the stuff I had to do at work. I had to pull over and take this picture and remind myself that sometimes the things that we miss have been right in front of us all the time. We just have to stop and look!!

Not what your thinking!
A port-a-potty for camping? No,it's one of the games for the fall festival. Apparently, they say that this is one of the kids favorite booths. Bobby was able to finish the football toss, hidden door and the toilet bowl games and now they will go on to the painters to be completed.

Time for the Olympics!! I will be spending a lot of time in front of the TV over the next 2 weeks. I enjoy watching all the events but my favorites are swimming, diving, beach volleyball and gymnastics.

Bobby the Builder
It seems Bobby has become the new church handyman. He volunteered to put together some rocking chairs for the bed babies and has installed cubbies in the toddler room both of which had been purchased months ago and were just sitting waiting for someone to put them together. He even installed a vent fan in one of the bathrooms. He is always willing to help out where he is needed. Tonight he started working on a HUGE project. For a few years they have been having a fall festival on the church grounds but this year it is being moved to a park and will be much bigger. He is in charge of making 100 booths for this festival. Yes, that's 100, so after a quick trip to Lowe's, he decided to get started! He will be doing all the building and someone else will paint the games. I'm afraid this is what he will be doing every weekend for a while. I'll post pictures of some that are finished later.

Much better!
Today was sooooo much better. We made a few adjustments and it worked so smoothly we were standing around waiting for the kids to come! Hopefully, we can keep it up. Lunch anyone??

First Day of School
All I can say is, I'm glad it's over! Does that tell you how my day went? It was a learning experience. The cook had to throw away a full pan of burgers because instead of putting them in the warmer, she left them in the oven and they all dried out. Oops!! Therefore, she had to run in and cook more because she ran out. Thank goodness she planned for 100 instead of 50 like my boss thought or we would have been way behind. The principal even came in and helped us serve. We ended up serving 127 kids for lunch which isn't many but for a new cook, new server and a new school on the first day in 1 hour was a little overwhelming. Now she understands why I say we need to prepare today for tomorrow. Oh, let's not forget the custodian that was suppose to have the tables set up at 10:00 so we can clean and sanitize them and be ready at 10:30 for kindergarten. He came strolling in at 10:25! Why is it that we have PE going on in the cafeteria at the same time I am serving lunch? I had this little kindergartner come over during his PE time and want to eat again and oh the noise!! Tomorrow has got to be better!!!
As for Tiffany, since Kyle was at home last night, she could sleep in a little longer but had to show up at school early so that I could put her hair up before we served breakfast. Unfortunately, she will need to get up at 5:15 each morning and go to work with me. Here she is in my office before heading out for her first day.
I'll leave you with something positive , instead of a 25 minute freeway drive to school, we have a 3 minute drive. That is nice!! When it gets cooler we can ride our bikes.

What a day!!
Today was a long day. I spent 10 hours at work. The school in our community is opening this year and tomorrow is the first day. We have been trying to get ready but things have just been coming in late. (I am not sure what was done during the summer months.) Today we finally received all our equipment which all had to be washed and sanitized. I finally have access to my computer, my cash register and a phone in my office and I had to have all students in the computer before the open house tonight. Yikes!! I will be glad when we get ourselves organized. You know how I hate it when things are not organized!!! Did I mention that I am on my 3rd cook and we haven't even started school yet? Which means I am spending time with her. I am also the only manager returning so I am having to help the other schools with ordering. Oh no, that reminds me I have to place my order tomorrow! It will get better but for now it's crazy!!
I also volunteered to organize a luncheon for our teachers today from the PTO. We had chicken enchiladas, taco salad, rice, chips and salsa, and yummy cookies made by some of my neighbors. I thought everything turned out nice and the food was great!
They all seemed to enjoy it.
Check back tomorrow and see how my 1st day of school went.

Sunday School Party
I made it through my 2nd party in 2 days. When I schedule these parties I'm all excited and looking forward to them. Then , when it gets close I wonder, what was I thinking but then I see the kids having fun and it's all worth it. I do enjoy opening our home and sharing it with friends and family. Tonights party was for Tiffany's Sunday School class because tomorrow is promotion Sunday. That's Chelsea in the middle of a dive.
Tiffany has really enjoyed having Mr. Gene and Ms. Kat as her Sunday School teachers and we found out the they will be teaching 4th grade so Tiffany will have them again.
Our pastor's wife, Rachel and their baby girl, Ellie, stayed for the fun. We had a great visit with each other. I found out some new things about her and she found out that we have a son.
